DERBY, Conn. – The Yale heavyweight crew team closed out its regular season on Saturday, competing at Gilder Boathouse against Princeton and Cornell.
On another rainy day in Derby with moderate headwinds, the Bulldogs faced off against Princeton and Cornell across multiple races.
Race Summary
- Yale's fifth varsity crew claimed the top spot with a time of 6:09.0, finishing nearly four and a half seconds ahead of Cornell (6:13.5) and Princeton (6:14.7).
- The fourth varsity boat also earned a victory, crossing the line in 5:51.7 — six seconds ahead of Princeton (5:57.9) and 16 seconds ahead of Cornell (6:07.6).
- In the first varsity race, Princeton retained the Carnegie Cup, winning with a time of 5:34.6. Yale finished close behind at 5:36.7, while Cornell took third at 5:46.3.
- Princeton also took first place in the second varsity race (5:44.0), followed by Yale (5:47.0) and Cornell (5:54.4).
- In the third varsity race, the Tigers continued their streak, winning in 5:49.2. Yale placed second (5:52.2) and Cornell third (6:02.9).

Next up for the Bulldogs are the Eastern Sprints Championships (EARC) on Sunday, May 18. Racing will take place on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
