Men’s Lacrosse Set to Open 2026 Season at No. 11 Army, Host Marist

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Yale men's lacrosse team is set to kick off its 2026 campaign at Army, on Saturday, Feb. 14, and then will host Marist in its home opener on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
 
The Bulldogs are coming off their 14th consecutive Ivy League Tournament appearance after a 2025 season that saw five members of the team earn All-Ivy recognition.

Preseason Predictions
The Bulldogs were selected to finish fourth in the league's annual preseason poll. Princeton was selected to finish first with 96 points and 12 first-place votes. Cornell, the reigning Ivy League champion, was picked second with 85 points and two first-place votes. Following the Big Red was Harvard in third with 69 points, and then Yale in fourth with 50 points. Rounding out the poll were Dartmouth (42 points), Penn (32 points), and Brown (18 points).
 
Fresh Faces
The Bulldogs welcomed 14 newcomers to the roster: Dylan Blekicki, Gaetano Cicotello, Ben Cuomo, Luke DeAngelis, Braydon Ellis, Sean Grogan, Lincoln Herring, Henry Hughes, Flynn Leonard, Oliver Nappi, Aidan Olazabal, Danny Van Camp, Colin Zeller, and Asher Ziv look to make their Yale debuts this season.
 
The Captain
The Bulldogs are led by Patrick Pisano, was tabbed the captain of the team this season. A cornerstone of Yale's defense, Pisano is coming off another strong year. He earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades, which marked the second straight season he received postseason honors from the league. Additionally, he was named to the 2025 Preseason NEILA Division I All-New England Team and received Preseason All-American honors from Inside Lacrosse. Pisano ranked fourth on the team with 23 ground balls and was second in caused turnovers with 14. He is also the recipient of the Christian Prince Memorial Award.
 
Scouting Army
The Black Knights enter the weekend with a 2-0 record and are coming off an 11-9 victory over No. 18 Rutgers on Saturday. In the victory, five players tallied goals against the Scarlet Knights, led by Gunnar Fellows with four goals. Army is currently ranked No. 11 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Poll. Additionally, two Black Knights, Evan Plunkett and Sean Byrne were tabbed to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Byrne, kicked off his senior campaign with a 2-0 start with 24 saves. Plunkett, earned the 2026 Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year title as well as earning USILA, Nike Lacrosse, and USA Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-American honors earlier this season.
 
Scouting Marist
The Red Foxes enter the matchup with a 0-1 record and are coming off a 13-9 loss at Mercer on Feb. 7.  In the defeat, Sean Mullan led Marist with a hat trick, scoring three goals on a team-high 11 shots. Brady Dolan and Steve Cain each also added two goals. The Red Foxes held a 16-10 edge in faceoffs, led by Josh Smith's 15 wins at the X, and went 13-for-18 on clears. Marist had five players that garnered Preseason All-MAAC Team honors, and the team was selected to finish second in the MAAC preseason poll behind Siena with 72 points and three first-place votes.
