NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- First year Ashley Stafford of the Yale gymnastics team has been named the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday morning. 

Stafford turned in a standout performance at NC State, tying for second on vault with a career-high 9.850 and sticking her front handspring font tuck half. Stafford has been a key contributor to Yale's vault lineup this season and helped the Bulldogs achieve a program-record 48.900 on the event this week.

The Bulldogs will compete at the Pink Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday, March 7.
