NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior forward/midfielder/back Gigi Caldero (New Canaan, Conn.) and first-year goalkeeper Lucy Pigg (Charlotte, N.C.) of the Yale field hockey team have been chosen to attend USA Field Hockey's U-21 Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp. USA Field Hockey announced the selections Thursday. The camp will take place Dec. 11 to 13 at Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. 

The U-21 travel squad will compete in the 2027 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup. 

Caldero and Pigg earned their spots after competing at the Nexus Championships in July – Caldero at the Senior Nexus Championship and Pigg at the Junior Nexus Championship. Nexus is USA Field Hockey's Olympic Development Pathway Program, and part of the tryout process for the Junior U.S. National Teams. 

This is the third straight year Caldero has been selected for  the U-21 Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp. She also has been selected for USA Field Hockey's Nexus program for five straight years now. In 2021 she won silver at the Nexus Championship and went on to earn bronze at the U16 Junior Olympics. Caldero is a graduate of Greenwich Academy.  

Pigg has been selected for Nexus four times. At Providence High, she was NFHCA all-region last year and was a two time all-state selection.
