Critical Conference Showdown With Dartmouth

West Haven - Sole possession of first place in the Ivy League's Red Rolfe Division will be on the line this weekend when Dartmouth hosts Yale for a four-game set.

Both sitting at 7-5 in conference action, the Bulldogs and the Big Green are tied for the top spot in the division. Yale is aiming to take control of the division race and put itself in the driver's seat heading into the final week of the regular season.

Doubleheaders are slated for noon on Saturday and Sunday at Biondi Park in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Yale is coming off a 15-2 victory over Wesleyan on Wednesday. The Bulldogs scored seven runs in the opening frame and cruised to the victory. Tom O'Neill drove in four runs, Tim DeGraw had three hits and Harrison White added a two-run home run.

Nate Adams leads the Bulldogs with a .325 average. Richard Slenker is batting .310 and is second in the Ivy with 13 doubles, while DeGraw has a team-high 21 RBIs.

The Bulldogs close out their regular season with a four-game set against Brown. The Bears will host Yale on Friday for two games beginning at noon and then the Bulldogs will return to Yale Field on Saturday to host the Brown for two more starting at noon.

Scouting the Big Green

Dartmouth (13-20, 7-5 Ivy), has won four of its last five. That includes a sweep of Cornell on Wednesday to move into a tie with Yale for the division lead.

The Big Green has two players batting above .300. Left fielder Matt Feinstein is hitting .329 and shortstop Thomas Roulis is hitting .302. First baseman Michael Ketchmark has four homers and a team-high 22 RBIs.

Right-hander Duncan Robinson (3-4) leads the Ivy with 54 strikeouts. Right-hander Beau Sulser (3-1, 2.10 ERA) will get the start in Game One against the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Immediate Impact

Scott Politz has quickly established himself as one of the top arms in the Ivy League. The freshman right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.44 ERA. He's tied for third in the Ivy with four wins and 38 strikeouts are No. 3 in the Ivy.

He's had some dominating performances highlighted by a one-hit shutout against Bucknell. He's only allowed 12 hits over his last four starts. Politz will take the hill for the Bulldogs in Game One on Saturday.
