NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Five Yale baseball players have been named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (CSC): pitcher Tate Evans, starting pitcher Daniel Cohen, shortstop Colin Sloan, outfielder Garrett Larsen and first baseman Davis Hanson. CSC announced the awards on Tuesday.
In order to qualify for CSC Academic All-District consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, earn a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances OR pitched 35 innings.
Evans earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the third straight year. The Ivy League Pitcher of the Year had an outstanding season on the mound, recording a 7-2 record with two saves and a 2.87 ERA. He is a data and statistics major.
Cohen pitched to a 5-3 record with a 5.34 ERA. He earned Ivy League Honorable Mention honors as the team's No. 3 starting pitcher. Cohen is a history major.
Sloan, a mechanical engineering major, was the team's starting shortstop, hitting .260 with 41 RBIs.
Larsen was a standout outfielder for the Bulldogs as a junior. He earned First Team All-Ivy honors, leading the conference with a .372 batting average. Larsen is a mechanical engineering major.
Hanson earned his second CSC Academic All-District honor after achieving the feat as a sophomore. The senior captain hit .231 with a team-leading six home runs.
