NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Brian Hamm, Fay Vincent '31 Head Coach of Baseball, announced that rising senior Garrett Larsen has been elected captain of the Yale baseball team for the 2027 season.

"Garrett Larsen has earned the respect of everyone in our program through the way he competes, leads, and represents Yale Baseball every day," Hamm said. "His teammates and opponents alike recognize the character, toughness, and consistency he brings to everything he does, and those qualities prepare him to serve as our next captain."

Larsen was a pivotal part of Yale's historic 2026 team. The Connecticut native helped lead the Bulldogs to their second consecutive Ivy League Regular Season title, first-ever conference tournament victory, and first NCAA appearance since 2017.

Larsen has been a starter in the outfield since stepping on campus as a first-year student in 2024 and had a breakout junior campaign. Batting out of the two-hole, Larsen led the Ivy League in batting average (.372), on-base percentage (.459), OPS (.986), and hits (70), and was in the top three in runs (49), doubles (16), and stolen bases (27). He was named First Team All-Ivy as a result of his excellent season. In the NCAA Tournament, Larsen collected three hits in two games, including a solo home run against Oregon State, earning a spot on the Eugene Regional All-Tournament Team.

"I'm incredibly honored and humbled to be elected captain by my teammates and brothers," Larsen said. "I am looking forward to leading this group alongside the rest of the seniors, each of whom deserves this title."

In three years at Yale, Larsen has played in 131 games, collecting 160 hits, 78 RBIs, and 54 stolen bases while manning left field at George H.W. Bush '48 Field. Larsen will return for his senior year alongside classmates and fellow starters Kaiden Dossa, Colin Sloan, and Chris DiPrima.

"We've already gotten back to work, preparing for another historic season of Yale Baseball," Larsen said.
