Box Score 2 A day after they clinched the Red Rolfe Division title for a second straight year, the Bulldogs closed out the regular season Sunday with a doubleheader sweep of Brown in Providence, R.I.
Yale (27-16, 16-4 Ivy) now advance to face to winner of the Lou Gehrig Division winner, which will be determined with a one-game playoff next weekend between Penn and Columbia.
The Bulldogs won game one 5-4 in 10 innings, and won a shortened game two 5-4 in seven.
Griffin Dey earned the win and delivered the go-ahead sac fly in the 10th to give the Bulldogs a game one win.
Harrison White went 5 for 8 on the day, including three hits and three RBI in game one. White had an RBI double in the first and a two-run single in the fifth.
Kumar Nambiar started and pitched into the fifth. Tyler Sapsford pitched three scoreless innings before Dey finished out the last 2 and 2/3 innings without allowing a run to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Benny Wanger singled home Simon Whiteman to put Yale on the board in the first of game one, and homered to give Yale a 4-3 lead in the sixth of game two. Wanger finished the Ivy League season with a conference-best 35 RBI in 20 games.
The Bears tied game two in the bottom of the sixth. In the seventh, Alex Boos led off with a double to right, Brian Ronai reached on an infield single, and Tim DeGraw walked to load the bases. Whiteman grounded out to short to score Boos for the eventual game-winning run.
Derek Brown added a homer in game two for Yale, which finished the season with 34 homers as a team. The Bulldogs had 18 in 2016.
Thomas Espig (1-0) pitched 2 and 2/3 innings with two strikeouts to earn the win in relief of Alex Stiegler, who gave up three runs (two earned) over the first four innings.
Tyler Duncan earned the save after he came on with the bases loaded and two outs to get the last batter to pop up to short.
