Bulldogs Extend Win Streak to Eight

Box Score

Tim DeGraw helped the Bulldogs extend their win streak to eight games on Wednesday afternoon.

DeGraw, Yale's leadoff hitter, reached base four times, had three hits, scored two runs and stole two bases in a 5-2 win over Sacred Heart at Yale Field. The Bulldogs improved 12-14 on the season.

Mason Kukowski (1-1) earned the win, pitched the first three innings and struck out four batters without issuing a walk.   Alex Stiegler earned the save with two scoreless innings to close out the game.

The Bulldogs continued to put pressure on the defense and get on base.  DeGraw led off the first with a single to right, stole second, and advanced to third on Benny Wanger fielder's choice.  Griffin Dey flied out to left for a sac fly to score DeGraw and give Yale a 1-0 lead.

Dey was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded in the third to score DeGraw, who started the rally with a one-out single.  Later in the inning, Brian Ronai delivered an infield hit with the bases loaded to score Simon Whiteman.

Whiteman went 2 for 4 in the game with two RBI and a walk. He added a two-run single in the eighth to score Cal Christofori and Harry Hegeman.

Up next, the Bulldogs host Harvard for a single game on Friday at 5 p.m.  The single game of the series was originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, the same two teams will be a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.  to complete the three-game series.
