Box Score Nine Bulldog pitchers combined to allow two hits in a 9-0 win at Iona on Wednesday. Yale have won three in a row and 11 of its last 12 games.
Yale (15-15) asserted itself early with four runs in the first two innings. Simon Whiteman reached base four times and led the way with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with three runs scored.
In the first, Benny Wanger got Yale on the board with an RBI ground out to score Tim DeGraw. In the second, Alex Boos was hit by a pitch to force home Brian Ronai.
DeGraw walked with the bases loaded and Whiteman singled to left center to score Dai Dai Otaka to make it 4-0.
Later in the game, Griffin Dey drove in three runs with a single-run scoring in the eighth and a two-run single in the ninth.
Yale pitchers allowed two base runners - both walks -- over the last five innings.
Mason Kukowski earned the victory, with each reliever after him tossing a scoreless inning. Drew Scott, Tyler Sapsford, Tyler Duncan, Thomas Espig, Bobby Cecere, Alex Stiegler, Griffin Dey and Wanger.
The Bulldogs return to action at home on Saturday with a doubleheader against Dartmouth beginning at 11:30 a.m.
