Ruddy, Stiegler and Wanger Homer in Yale Victory on Tuesday

Box Score

Benny Wanger, Alex Stiegler and captain Tom Ruddy all homered on Tuesday afternoon in a 16-9 victory at Quinnipiac in Hamden, Conn.

The Bulldogs pounded out season-highs in hits (17) and runs (16) and led 8-0 after the top of the third inning.  Yale improved to 21-17 on the season and have won nine of its last 11 games.

Every Bulldog hitter in the starting lineup had at least one hit, led by Wanger who went 3 for 5 with four RBI and two runs scored, including a three-run blast to right in the third.

Wanger is 6 for his last 15 with eight RBI over the last four games -- all Yale victories.

Tim DeGraw, Simon Whiteman, Wanger, Stiegler, Brian Ronai and Alex Boos each had two runs scored, while Dai Dai Otaka scored three times.

Ten Yale pitchers took the mound today with Sam Boies getting credit with the victory.  Boies pitched a scoreless second inning. He relieved Mason Kukowski who did not allow a run in the first.

Yale jumped out to a 2-0 lead in first when Griffin Dey grounded into a fielder's choice with the bases loaded without giving up an out.  An error allowed Wanger to reach second and advance to third, and DeGraw and Whiteman to score.

Stiegler followed with a sac fly to score Wanger to give Yale a 3-0 lead after the top of the first.

In the second, Ruddy and Wanger homered.  Ruddy went 2 for 3 with three RBI and a walk, including his first career homer.

DeGraw added a sac fly in the third to score Boos.  Ruddy knocked in two more in the fourth to score Ronai and Stiegler and give the Bulldogs a 10-4 lead.

The Bulldogs are not scheduled to play again until May 12.
