Box Score The Bulldogs dropped a 7-5 decision at Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon in the first of a three-game series at Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.
The doubleheader scheduled for today was reduced to a single game due to weather and the teams will play two tomorrow starting at 11:30 a.m.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 8-8 in league play, while Dartmouth improved to 7-9.
The top of Yale's batting order remained hot. Simon Whiteman, Mason LaPlante and Griffin Dey all had multi-hit games for the Bulldogs.
The day started promising for the Bulldogs, who scored three in the top of the first. Whiteman and LaPlante produced back-to-back singles to start the game and the Bulldogs capitalized on some small ball. Tim DeGraw laid down a bunt single that led to a throwing error and two runs scoring.
LaPlante went 3 for 5 and is now 12 for his last 23 at the plate. Griffin Dey followed with an RBI single to center to score DeGraw and make it 3-0.
Dartmouth got two back in the first on solo homers off Yale starter Scott Politz. The Bulldogs scored in both the third and fourth.
Cal Christofori plated Jake Gehri on a ground out and Whiteman lifted a sac fly to score Brian Ronai to push Yale's lead to 5-2. The Big Green chipped away with a run in the fifth, three in the seventh and once more in the eighth.
