Fuller Drives in Five in 10-9 Loss at Fairfield

Tom Fuller drove in five runs on Wednesday and Brian Ronai homered for the second straight game as a Yale comeback fell short in a 10-9 loss at Fairfield.

The Bulldogs put the tying run on base in the ninth before the final out was recorded.  Yale fell to 10-14 overall.

Fuller went 4 for 5 and was one of three Bulldogs with at least three hits in the game.  Jake Gehri went 3 for 6 with two runs scored and Tim DeGraw went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Yale pounded out 15 hits and it marked the 14th time the Bulldogs have produced at least 10 in a game.  

After falling behind 7-2, the Bulldogs stormed back with four runs in the fourth capped by a two-run double from Fuller.  The Stags put up two runs in the fifth to make it 9-6.

Ronai led off the next inning with his fourth homer of the season, a solo shot to left.  Later in the inning, Fuller scored Dai Dai Otaka on a single to left. 

The Bulldogs pulled closer in the seventh with Mason LaPlante scored on a wild pitch.

Yale returns to action this Saturday to begin a three-game series at Harvard.  Both teams will enter the weekend with a 4-2 Ivy League mark.
