CHARLESTON, N.C. - The No. 5 Yale Bulldogs placed second at the highly competitive Bob Bavier Team Race in Charleston, N.C. over the weekend.
The regatta was hosted by the No. 9 College of Charleston, which narrowly beat the Bulldogs in a tumultuous gold fleet round robin to take home the first title. The event was the first coed team race hosted in NEISA this season.
The Bulldogs also competed in the Sharpe Team Race Trophy, held at Brown, posting a 7-7 record over the course of two days. The sailors contended with freezing temperatures and shifty winds at the Rhode Island venue.
The Roger Williams Team Race Scrimmage was canceled due to inclement weather.

Senior crew
Graceann Nicolosi, who sailed at the Bob Bavier, remarked that it was a "great start to the season considering our lack of practice and chemistry as this is a pretty new team." She noted that the Bulldogs are "looking forward to our spring training trip next week," which will take place in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Sophomore crew
Anisha Arcot reflected that the conditions at the Sharpe Trophy "were very shifty and puffy this weekend which made for very challenging team racing. It was very important for everyone to stay warm and keep energy up in the sub 30-degree conditions." First year skipper
Nicholas Davies reported that "this weekend's season opener at Brown was an opportunity to see how we matched up against some highly competitive teams." The Swiss sailor echoed Nicolosi's sentiments about the training trip, "The two days of racing [were] perfectly poised to carry us into our spring break...highly motivated and with a clear sense of what needs work at this early stage in the season."
