PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Yale coed sailing team competed for the Wood Trophy over the weekend. The Bulldogs placed third overall at the event hosted by Brown University.
On Saturday, the wind came out of the south, ranging from 8-10 knots in the morning and climbing to 12-14 knots by the end of the day with some gusts. On Sunday, the wind came from the southeast and was a bit lighter, ranging from 5-7 knots but with larger gusts up to 18 knots. Over the two days, the team sailed three full round robins and a fourth round with only the other teams in the top four. The Bulldogs finished in third with a 13-8 record. Skippers Alexander Adams, Carly Kieding, Dorothy Mendelblatt, and Morgan Pinckney sailed with crews Ashley Highland, Carmen Berg, Julia Miller, and Annabel Woodworth.
Next weekend, the coed and women's teams will compete in the Southern Northeast Team Race and the Women's Southern Northeast Team Race, both held at Connecticut College.
