NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale baseball team enters Ivy League play this weekend on a high note. The Bulldogs have won six of eight and are 7-3 in their last 10 games.Â

In their most recent game, the Bulldogs (8-6) remained perfect at home and defeated Quinnipiac 19-7 on Tuesday.Â

Jimmy Chatfield continued his standout play by earning the victory on the mound and driving in a run at the plate. On the season, Chatfield leads the team with a .333 batting average, 28 total bases, 18 RBI and three home runs.Â

Ben Metzner has at least one hit in eight of his last nine games, including two against Quinnipiac with six RBIs. He will begin the weekend with a .314 batting average. Â

Jeff Pierantoni and
Carson Swank both homered on Tuesday. The Bulldogs now have six as a team on the young season.Â

Mason LaPlante had four hits on Tuesday after reaching base four times in his previous game last Sunday at California Baptist. LaPlante has reached base safety in seven straight games and leads the team with 14 runs scored.

Alec Atkinson scored four runs and had a pair of hits on Tuesday and upped his team-leading total to five multi-hit games.
Colton Shaw enters the weekend on a team-best seven-game hit streak.

On the mound,
Mike Walsh leads the team with 23 strikeouts and 22 and 1/3 innings pitched over four starts.
Mick Kelley (2.89 ERA) and
Reid Easterly (3.07) have been effective in relief.

The Bulldogs are playing their first conference games since May 11, 2019. Â On that day, Yale swept Princeton at home in a doubleheader.Â

Princeton enters the weekend 2-13 overall after splitting a four-game series against Towson last weekend. This weekend's games also mark the conference openers for the Tigers. Brendan Cumming on Monday was named Ivy League Player of the Week. He went 12-for-22 with 13 RBI, 10 runs scored, three doubles, and three home runs across the four games.
