NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs host Sacred Heart on Wednesday afternoon after a very successful weekend. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at George H.W. Bush '48 Field.
Yale swept a three-game series at Princeton last weekend and went on to sweep the Ivy League weekly awards on Monday.  In addition, Yale has won 9 of 11 and four in row entering Wednesday's game.Â
Jake Gehri was named Ivy League Player of the Week after setting the conference record for most homers in a conference game with four.  The four homers included two grand slams totaling 11 RBI for the day.
Jimmy Chatfield was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after homering in both games of Saturday's doubleheader sweep against the Tigers and also earned the win on the mound against Quinnipiac last week.  Chatfield enters the week having reached base safely in all 17 games for the Bulldogs and leads the team in batting average (.349), homers (5) and RBI (21).  Â
Mike Walsh was named Ivy League Pitcher of the week after his 10-strikeout performance against Princeton last Saturday.  Walsh improved to 3-0 and ranks third in the Ivy League with 33 strikeouts and fourth in opposing batting average (.210).  Â
As a team, the Bulldogs offense has scored at least 10 runs in four of their last six games -- against three different opponents (California Baptist, Quinnipiac and Princeton).  In the field, the Bulldogs rank second in the conference in fielding percentage (.972).
Up next, the Bulldogs travel to Cornell for a three-game series beginning Saturday with a doubleheader.Â
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers dropped two of three over the weekend at Merrimack and enter the week 2-20 overall.  Justin Jordan leads the team in batting average (.338), hits (24) and runs scored (13).  Sacred Heart set a season-high mark with 13 runs scored in a victory over Merrimack last Saturday. Â
