NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team suffered its first Ivy League loss of the spring, falling to Penn 4-1 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
Vivian Cheng earned the Bulldogs' point by posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
Chelsea Kung, who upset Princeton's Daria Frayman, the nation's No. 1 ranked player, on Saturday, was in a close match at No. 1. She split the first two sets with Penn's Iuliia Bryzgalova before the third set was stopped with the score 1-1.
In doubles, the Yale duo of
Mirabelle Brettkelly and
Rhea Shrivastava won 7-5 at No. 3. The Quakers, though, captured the other two doubles matches.
Yale is back in action next Saturday at Cornell.
