NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs host their first Ivy League games of the season this weekend with a three-game series against Dartmouth at George H.W. Bush '48 Field. The series begins Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m. and concludes with a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Bulldogs' game at Fairfield on Wednesday was canceled due to weather. Yale last played on Sunday and earned a victory at Cornell. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 13-8 overall and 4-2 in league play.
Colton Shaw,
Carson Swank and
Mike Walsh earned spots on the weekly Ivy League Honor Roll. Shaw hit safely in all four games last week and went 6 for 19 with six runs scored. Swank had a grand slam and seven RBI last weekend, and Walsh allowed one run over seven innings at Cornell last Saturday.Â
The Bulldogs went 2-2 last week and had a five-game win streak snapped on Saturday.  The Yale offense exploded for 18 runs on Sunday in a victory at Cornell. Â
The 18 runs marked a season-high for runs scored in a conference game. In addition to 16 hits against Cornell on Sunday, Yale hitters drew a season-best 12 walks against Big Red pitching. Â
Jimmy Chatfield and
Jake Gehri hit back-to-back homers in the game.  Both enter the week tied for a team-best six home runs.
Bulldogs in Top-5 in Statistical Categories for Conference Play:
- Jake Gehri leads the conference in RBI (15) and home runs (5), and third in slugging percentage (1.045) and OPSÂ (1.545).
- Jimmy Chatfield is second in home runs (4) and fifth in walks (6).Â
- Colton Shaw leads the conference with four stolen bases. He also leads the conference with two wins, and is tied with Mike Walsh for third with 13 innings pitched.Â
- Mason LaPlante is third in runs scored (10) and second in stolen bases with three.
- Mike Walsh is second in opposing batting average (.156) and strikeouts (17) and third in ERA (1.38).
- Grant Kipp is third with 16 strikeouts.
- Reid Easterly is tied for second with two saves.Â
Up next, Yale will host Brown for a three-game series beginning Saturday, April 16, at 11:30 a.m.
Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green enter play this weekend 3-3 in Ivy League play and 10-12 overall. Dartmouth took two of three from Brown to open the Ivy season, and last weekend dropped two of three at Penn. Over its first six conference games, Dartmouth has the top team ERA in the league at 3.29. Tyler Cox is hitting .593 (16 for 27) over his first six Ivy games of the season. Â
