NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team had an impressive opening weekend, earning a scoreless tie with Hofstra and cruising to a 4-1 victory over Quinnipiac. The Bulldogs hope to build on those results in a pair of home games this week. Yale hosts Boston University on Thursday night at 7 p.m. before Fordham visits on Sunday for a 5 p.m. kickoff.

Ellie Rappole and Belle Golden both were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Rappole scored twice in the win over Quinnipiac, while Golden added a goal and an assist.

Goalkeeper Maya Bellomo started both games and stopped nine of the 10 shots on goal she saw. The only blemish came when Quinnipiac scored with 26 seconds left in the second half to spoil the shutout.

The game vs. BU is "Throwback Thursday" at Reese Stadium. The first 300 fans in attendance receive a custom Yale Fanny Pack, courtesy of Yale Athletics, and the night will feature 90's themed music and trivia.

Sunday is Yale's annual Pride Night with the first 300 fans in attendance receiving "Pride Y" t-shirts.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY

The Terriers, who were picked to finish third in the preseason Patriot League poll, are coming off a 6-2 home loss to Michigan on Sunday. BU (2-2) has victories over Providence and UMass Lowell. Four different Terriers have scored this season. Jenna Oldham was selected as the preseason Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. Casey Brown is in her first season as the head coach of the Terriers.

SCOUTING FORDHAM

The Rams (1-2) host Hofstra on Thursday before making the trip to New Haven. Yale is the second Ivy League opponent for Fordham, which dropped a 2-0 decision at Dartmouth on Aug. 26. The Rams' three goals have come from three different players. Magnus Nilerud is in his first season as head coach after spending 23 years leading the University of Bridgeport's program.
