BOSTON — The Yale lightweights returned to racing Sunday afternoon at the Head of the Charles, bringing a large contingent of two eights and two fours to the historic regatta. The lightweight 'A' eight finished fifth, edged out for fourth by two seconds by Dartmouth, but ahead of Princeton. Harvard and Penn finished a close first and second. The lightweight 'B' eight placed 13th.
Yale's lightweight 'A' four placed 10th, everyone finishing behind first-place Cornell. The lightweight 'B' four placed 13th.
"Our guys raced hard and showed some good second-half effort in all the races, helped by some excellent coxing," said
Andy Card, Yale's Y150 Alumni Head Coach of Lightweight Crew. "We had a lot of Charles rookies in unfamiliar roles out there, and it was great to see them enjoy their debut. Once again the league is very exciting, and this small glimpse into other boathouses is very fortuitous. It's great to be a part of this regatta. We took a big squad and I'm glad everybody got their uniform dirty. Now it's time to get the entire team back together in its entirety and leave the fall season behind."
