The Bulldogs (4-10) open the conference schedule on Friday to begin a three-game series with Cornell. The series begins Friday afternoon.
Here are Yale notes entering the weekend:
- The Bulldogs lost in a pitcher's duel on Wednesday in their home opener to Quinnipiac. The lone run of the contest was scored on a ground out in the second inning.
- Mick Kelley highlighted several sold pitching performances for Yale on Wednesday. He tossed 5.1 innings of relief and did not allow a run.
- Bryant Reese and Daniel Cohen combined to pitch the final two innings without allowing a run.
- Jimmy Chatfield extended his on-base streak to 52 games with three walks on Wednesday. Chatfield leads the Ivy League in stolen bases (8), ranks second in on-base percentage (.524) and ranks fourth in batting average (.375).
- The Bulldogs lead the Ivy League in team fielding percentage (.985) and stolen bases (29).
- AJ Gaich leads the team with 11 runs scored.
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red (0-12) enter the weekend also opening their Ivy League schedule. Junior catcher Nathan Waugh was one of 65 players named to the watch list for the 2023 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award. In addition, senior left-handed pitcher Spencer Edwards enters this weekend with opponents batting just .196 off of him (11 hits in 56 at-bats), which ranks second in the Ivy League, through games completed through Tuesday.
