The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday to host Sacred Heart. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Here are some Bulldog notes heading into the game:
- The Bulldogs dropped two of three over the weekend to Cornell in the opening series of the Ivy League schedule.
- Brian Hamm, in his first season as Yale head coach, picked up his first Ivy League victory on Sunday against Cornell in game one of the doubleheader.
- Reid Easterly, AJ Gaich and Davis Hanson all earned spots on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts last week.
- Easterly tossed 8.2 innings and allowed one unearned run while picking up his third win of the season.
- Gaich hit .300 in three games against Cornell with three runs, three walks and three stolen bases in as many attempts. He also leads the team in runs scored (14) and stolen bases (9).
- Hanson hit .300 in three games against Cornell with two RBI and two walks.
- The Bulldogs continue to lead the Ivy League in stolen bases (36), sac bunts (13) and team fielding percentage (.985).
- Jimmy Chatfield had his on-base streak snapped at 54 games last Sunday in game two of the doubleheader against Cornell. In game one of the day, he went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a RBI. He also continues to lead the team in most offensive categories including batting average (.356), hits (21), walks (13), slugging (.593), home runs (3) and RBI (16).
- After Wednesday's game, the Bulldogs resume Ivy play with a three-game series at Brown this weekend.
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers step out of conference for Wednesday's game after starting 7-2 overall in Northeast Conference action. Sacred Heart (11-9 overall) took two of three last weekend from University of Maryland-Eastern Shore in its most recent games. Sam Mongelli and Justin Jordan are both hitting over .400 for the season thus far, while the Pioneers are hitting .290 as a team.
