The Bulldogs this weekend will play their first road games of the Ivy League season with a three-game series at Brown. The series begins with a single game on Friday at 1 p.m., and the two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday.
Here are some Bulldog notes heading into the weekend:
- Yale is coming off a 14-inning victory over Sacred Heart on Wednesday.
- The Bulldogs received seven innings of scoreless relief to gain the victory on Wednesday. Daniel Cohen pitched three scoreless innings, Mark Capell did not allow a run in the 11th, and Ethan Lewis pitched the final three innings and earned the victory.
- Lewis, a first-year, earned his first collegiate victory on Wednesday.
- Jimmy Chatfield and Jake Williams both had four hits in the victory over Sacred Heart. Williams had the walk-off hit and three RBI in the game.
- Chatfield had his 54-game on-base streak snapped last weekend. He's tied for the Ivy League lead in on-base percentage (.506) and ranks fourth in batting average (.379).
- Reid Easterly earned a spot on the Ivy League Honor Roll after tossing 8.2 scoreless innings and earning a win in two appearances against Cornell last weekend.
- The Bulldogs continue to lead the Ivy League in stolen bases (39), sac bunts (16) and team fielding percentage (.984).
Scouting Brown
The Bears (4-12, 1-2 Ivy League) are coming off a midweek victory over Stonehill. Last weekend, the Bears opened the Ivy season against Columbia and lost two of three. Jacob Burley leads the team with a .317 batting average. Brown's pitching staff ranks second in team ERA within the Ivy League. Yale took two of three from the Bears last season in West Haven.
