The Bulldogs have a chance to gain some ground in the Ivy League standings with a three-game series at Penn this weekend. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
Here are some Bulldog notes heading into the weekend:
- The Bulldogs are coming off a three-game sweep at Dartmouth last weekend to improve to 7-5 in Ivy League play – two games behind first-place Penn.
- Yale dropped a mid-week non-conference game at Quinnipiac the last time out.
- Daniel Cohen was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after earning the victory last Sunday in a six scoreless inning performance. He ranks third with a 2.00 ERA in Ivy League games.
- Yale leads the Ivy League in fielding and ranks second in team ERA and opposing batting average in Ivy League games this season.
- Yale ranks eighth in the nation with a .982 fielding percentage in all games this season.
- Reid Easterly and Davis Hanson earned Ivy League Honor Roll selections for their play last weekend.
- Easterly leads the Ivy League in conference innings pitched with 30 and is eighth in ERA at 2.70. He's 2-1 in Ivy League games this season.
- Hanson ranks fourth with a .391 batting average in conference games. He's also fourth in total hits (18) and fifth in on-base percentage (.466) and has reached base in 17 straight games.
- Colton Shaw ranks seventh with a 2.45 ERA in conference games and has an opposing batting average of .206.
- The Bulldogs have four hitters with nine multi-hit games: Jimmy Chatfield, Davis Hanson, Jeff Pierantoni and Jake Williams.
- AJ Gaich is riding a seven-game hit streak entering the weekend.
