Men's Golf Hosts the 47th Macdonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men's golf team will host the Macdonald Cup at the Yale Golf Course this weekend.

The Lineup: Gabriel Ruiz, Blake Brantley, Robert You, Will Lodge, and Sam Davis will compete as a team, while Andrew Stickel, Bryant Reese, and Stephen Liu will compete as individuals.
About the Course: Charles Blair Macdonald, renowned golf course architect, champion golfer, and co-founder of the USGA, supervised the plans for a 18-hole golf course. With a budget of $400,000, Macdonald, in collaboration with Seth Raynor, designed a masterpiece which opened for play in 1926. In the last year, the course has been named One of America's 100 Greatest Public Courses, a Top-10 Connecticut Course You Can Play, and was ranked No. 1 among college golf courses. The course has been home to six NCAA Regional Tournaments, Nike Connecticut Open, two USGA Junior National Events, and every significant state championship.
About the Tournament: The 54-hole tournament will be the 47^th edition of Macdonald Cup. The Bulldogs placed third in last year's installation and were victorious in 2021. The event will run from Saturday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 24 with the first two rounds to be played on Saturday and the final round of play on Sunday. Teams will tee off at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning at staggering holes.
Who's Competing: There will be 12 teams in the field for the Cup. Joining the Bulldogs are Bryant, Bucknell, Fairfield, Fordham, Georgetown, Harvard, Le Moyne, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, St. John's and UC San Diego.
