NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Four members of the Yale men's track and field team have been selected for the NCAA First Round East meet that takes place in Jacksonville, Fla., May 28 and 30. The top 48 performers in the region in each event are selected for this meet, where they will compete for a spot at the NCAA Championships that take place in Oregon in June. In order to earn a spot in the Championships, the Bulldogs must finish in the top 12 at the First Round East meet.
The Bulldogs:
- Senior Winslow Atkeson has been selected in the 3000 meter steeplechase. His time this year of 8:51.03 ranks him 41st in the region. Atkeson has performed well this season, securing points at the recent Ivy League Championships.
- Senior Leo Brewer qualified in the 5,000m. He set the school record with his time of 13:50.23. This mark ranks him as 48th among those competing at the NCAA First Round East.
- Junior Owen Karas was selected in the 1500 meters. His school-record time of 3:37.52 ranks him 9th in the East Region. Karas brings experience, having performed well at this meet last year.
- Sophomore Nathan Lebowitz has been selected in the discus throw. His new PR of 64.69 meters ranks him as 35th in the region.
