Full schedule of Swig and Swine College Classic

Fresh off their largest offensive output in almost three years, the Bulldogs are back on the road this weekend to compete in the Swing and Swine Classic in Charleston, S.C.

Yale is slated to face Ball State, Sacred Heart and the University of Richmond.  Action begins Friday at 11 a.m. against Ball State.  The games will also mark the Bulldogs' second trip to Charleston in three weeks after playing The Citadel to open the 2020 season.

The Bulldogs last weekend ended the three-game series at Old Dominion on a high note.  Yale defeated the Monarchs on Sunday 19-7 and it marked the highest run total for the Bulldogs since an 18-run game at Woffard on March 18, 2017.

Jake Gehri and Carson Swank were honored for their efforts against ODU. Gehri was named Ivy League Player of the Week, while Swank earned rookie honors.

Gehri went 8 for 14 with 10 RBI, including a two-homer game on Sunday.  Swank scored six runs and drove in six while hitting 5 for 12 at the plate.

Tyler Sapsford came out of the bullpen Sunday to earn Yale's second win of the season.  Sapsford came on in relief of Ben Gibbs, who kept ODU off the board through four and started the season with 10 straight scoreless innings before allowing his first run in the fifth.

Brian Ronai and Teddy Hague also had impressive weekends at the plate.  Both went deep twice, while Roani went 7 for 12 and Hague was 6 for 15.

Scouting the Opponents:
Ball State  - The Cardinals, a member of the Mid-American Conference, are 3-8 overall.  They enter play with a .231 team batting average after a 4-3 loss at Gardner Webb on Wednesday.

Sacred Heart - The Pioneers, of the Northeast Conference, most recently dropped a pair games at Wake Forest after defeating LaSalle and Brown last week.  SHU begins play at 3-5 overall.

University of Richmond - The Spiders will enter the weekend 2-10 overall after a loss at Virginia on Tuesday.
