NEW HAVEN, Conn – An exciting few days awaits for the Yale men's track and field with multiple meets taking place. The indoor season kicks off with the UConn Husky Challenge, which the Bulldogs will compete at on Friday. After this the Bulldogs return home for the Yale Season Opener on Saturday. Also taking place on this day is the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. This busy first weekend will give the Bulldogs a chance to test their ability prior to the winter break.
 
UConn Husky Challenge:

• The Bulldogs begin in the weight throw at 1:00 p.m.

Bulldogs at the UConn Husky Challenge:

• The throwers will start the season with juniors Nolan Recker and Jake Sun going in the weight throw. Recker is fresh off a school record last year of 66' 10.75''.
• Also in the weight throw is sophomore Chu Anueyiagu. He is looking to kick his year off with a bang and set a solid opening mark.

 
Yale Season Opener:

• Action in the field kicks off at 8:30 a.m.
• Action on the track begins at 12:00 p.m.

Bulldogs at the Yale Season Opener:

• Many of the middle-distance squad will be opening up their years at this meet. Sophomores Antonio Bravo and Amaré Fields are both racing the 400 meters. This event will test their speed after a solid block of training. They both return in the afternoon for the 4x400 meter relay. First year Otis Irwin also races the 400 meters and will return later for the relay.
• Racing the 1000 meters are seniors Austin Montini and sophomores Brian Gamble and Liam Sullivan.
• In the slightly longer distances -- senior Elon Abergel opens his year over the mile and sophomore Guy Stevens races the 3,000 meters to kick off his year.
• The jumps squad will be out in full force. Sophomore Jamaal Darlington goes in the high jump. Senior Elliot Wessel will compete in the pole vault after his excellent season last year. Juniors Brian Di Bassinga and Isiah Udofia both go in the long jump. Udofia will be hunting down the school record. Di Bassinga doubles up in the triple jump and will hope to kick his season off well. Joining him in the triple jump is first year Orion Browne, who begins his collegiate career.
• The throwers are also competing at home in a busy first weekend. Anueyiagu, Recker, Sun and Nathan Lebowitz all go in the weight throw. Recker will double up in the shot put.
• The sprinters will test their limits over the shorter events. In the 60 meters seniors Kit Colson, James Grindle, Simon Jupp, Cristian Pereira and Drew Smith all race as they kick off their final indoor season as Bulldogs. Also in the 60m are junior Andrew Farr and sophomore Andrew Fu.
• Captain Jacob Kao races the 200 meters and will be hoping to lead from the front. Udofia also contests this event in a busy opener for him. Lucas Mylon will open his year in the 200 meters. First year Otis Knapper begins his collegiate career in the 200m.

 
BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener:

• The Men's 5,000m begins at 6:15 p.m.

Bulldogs at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener:

• Junior Owen Karas is the sole Bulldog headed to BU, to test himself over the 5,000m distance. He comes off a solid cross country season and is looking to use his strength to set a fast time early on in the season.

• The Bulldogs will head home for Winter Break and continue to train hard in preparation for the busy season to come. The Season will get back underway with the Yale-Dartmouth-Columbia tri meet that takes place on Jan. 18, hosted by Dartmouth at the Leverone Field House.
