NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's track and field team competed at the Mark Young Invitational on Saturday, building on the momentum from the past few weeks of action. The Bulldogs placed second of six teams, totaling 116 points. Brown won with 144 points.

The Bulldogs:

• Sophia Karperos started the day off in style for the Bulldogs as she took an easy victory in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:24.28. In the 1500m, Priya Gangadharan came sixth in a PR of 4:46.36.
• In the sprints, Sabrina Mellinghoff doubled up in the 100m and 200m, running 13.04 and 26.84. Larissa Giles also ran in the 100m, while Caroline Glessing and Sydney Kunkler went in the 200m. 
• Over the 800m, Kalista Villatoro notched her third victory of the year as she ran 2:13.08 to win comfortably. Behind her, teammates Daniella Henderson, Cara Joyce, Ruby Barton, Arielle Moore and Anna Chamberlin showed Yale's impressive Mid-D depth as they all went under 2:17.5. A group of them alo combined in the 4x400m at the end of the meet.
• The race of the day was arguably the 5000m, where Miranda Lorsbach and Kathryn Rodrigues had a battle for the ages, with Lorsbach eventually prevailing thanks to a lethal final kick. She won the race in 17:35.85 ahead of Rodrigues' 17:39.14. Marisa Poe also ran a strong 17:48.42 in third while Marina Carlos' 19:14.50 PR placed her fourth. 
• Yale saw plenty of success in the jumping events, with Alexandra Bonn's 11.88m PR securing the victory in the triple jump and Sydney Kunkler's 5.47m effort winning her the long jump. Glessing, Bharathi Subbiah and Kiera Suh also went in that event, while Sophie Wright placed a strong second place in the triple jump.
