George H.W. Bush Lifetime of Leadership Award
Jon P. Reese stands as one of the most prolific athletes in Yale history, excelling in both Football and Men’s Lacrosse. He was a three-time All-American lacrosse player and holds the NCAA record with 82 goals in a single season. In 2011, Reese was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame as only one of seven Yale Lacrosse players to have that honor.
In his years on campus. Reese served as football captain, elected team MVP, and helped win the 1989 Ivy League title for legendary coach Carm Cozza. For the Yale Bowl’s 100th year celebration, Reese was selected to the Yale Football All-Century Team. During his final year at Yale, he was a recipient of the William Neely Mallory Award for Yale’s top male athlete in 1990.Â
After Yale, Reese went on to a successful career on Wall Street with Lehman Brothers from 1990-2002. Following the tragedy of 9/11, he dedicated his time to bettering the Long Island and Yale communities.Â
In 2009, Reese founded the Make it Count Foundation, whose mission is to provide resources for optimal housing, health, and education. Through the foundation, he has renovated more than 30 veteran’s homes and touched the lives of thousands of students through their education initiatives.Â
Currently, in addition to his Foundation, Jon works as an independent business consultant, and manages multiple real estate investment funds.
Jon’s commitment to service shows true in his dedication to the Yale Community. He has been an active Board Member for more than 20 years on both the Lacrosse and Football Associations. Reese co-chaired the 20th, 25th, and upcoming 30th reunion giving committees as well as taking an active role on the Yale Tomorrow developing campaign committee.Â
