Kenneth L. Davis, ‘69, graduated magna cum laude from Yale, where he earned a varsity letter in track & field. He earned his M.D. as valedictorian of his class at Mount Sinai School of Medicine before completing internship, residency, and fellowship at the Stanford University School of Medicine. 

A pioneer in the research of psychiatric disorders, Davis became chief of psychiatry at the Bronx Veterans Administration Medical Center and also joined the faculty at Mount Sinai in 1979. Promoted to department chair and then dean of the school, Davis became president and CEO of the Mount Sinai Medical Center in March 2003.

An internationally renowned expert in Alzheimer’s disease and schizophrenia, Davis has authored more than 550 scientific articles on the topic of brain diseases. He has been recognized by numerous organizations for his work, and in 2001 was elected a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. 

Davis has served as secretary and now chairman of the board of directors of the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes of New York, president of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and is a member of the Board of Governors of the New York Academy of Sciences.
