Dr. Margot Putukian made her mark on the fields at Yale long before rising to prominence in sports medicine. A standout on the Yale women's soccer team, she graduated second on the program's all-time lists in both goals and points. She also competed for the Yale women's lacrosse team, demonstrating her versatility and athleticism. One of the first members of the Yale Women's Athletic Network, she has long served as a mentor to student-athletes and emerging professionals throughout her career.
 
Dr. Putukian is a nationally recognized leader in sports medicine and currently serves as Chief Medical Officer and Consultant for Major League Soccer, a position she has held since 2018. With over three decades of experience, she has held prominent roles at Princeton University, including Director of Athletic Medicine, Head Team Physician, and Assistant Director of Medical Services. She was previously an assistant professor at Penn State University's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and an associate professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she also held leadership positions at both schools.
 
A charter member and past president of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM), Dr. Putukian has contributed extensively to the NFL's General Medical Committee and served as a team physician for U.S. Soccer since 1994. She has also worked closely with the IOC, FIFA, and NCAA on international initiatives focused on sport related concussion, cardiac screening and athlete mental health.
 
She is a prolific scholar with over 170 peer-reviewed publications, 60 book chapters, and more than 250 presentations. Dr. Putukian has served as one of the lead authors on the Team Physician Consensus Statements since 2003 and helped lead humanitarian efforts through the AMSSM Foundation. Her dedication to athlete health has extended to service at the 2022 Beijing and 2024 Paris Olympics, as well as leadership roles with the U.S. Men's National Lacrosse Team and multiple youth national soccer teams.
 
Her many honors include the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Citation Award, the AMSSM Founders Award, and induction into the New England Soccer Hall of Fame.
